Girlyish

It gets better

One of my best memories in life was a snow filled day when the temperature was about negative something (when you’re in the negative…does it really matter how far down you are). Despite the car breaking down and being knee-deep in snow, I still feel so much joy from that day. When I’m feeling down, one of my life secrets is looking back at a time in my life that was happy and trying to fill the present space with that feeling. I’m an optimist at heart, but damn if you do, sometimes it’s just fuckin hard to be happy. Sometimes it takes a memory and other times maybe just a pretty picture.  I am in heart with the works of Michelle Aramas and this is one of my favorite images.

Five for Friday

TGIF and all things dark chocolate! It’s always fun to read other people’s lists, yes? Like, the 5 things to know about Pippa Middleton’s boyfriend, the 25 things you never knew about Lady Gaga, or the top 20 must-haves for having the best-ever-perfect-life. I adore lists. I make lists for EVERYTHING. There’s my to-do-list, my short-term/long-term goals list, my travel-planning list, grocery list, weight lost planning list…it.just.keeps.going. In this little corner of the world wide web, I am reserving my “Five for Friday” lists.  Things I am grateful for, coveting, or just whatever.

1. I am attending a tea party themed baby shower in a few weeks and am excited about making mini cupcakes

2. Viktor and Rolf FlowerBomb smells delicious

3. I can’t wait to see Madonna performing at the Superbowl

4. Playing with my niece is always fun (she is totally into blocks right now)

5. I am loving Kate Spade’s new striped wedge at the moment

New year, new me

By now, I’m sure you’ve all made your fair share of goals, intentions, etc. And, not unlike the entire most of the population, you’ve probably dropped one, or two, or all. Suckers! That’s why I’ve decided to start my “new year” a little differently. For me, the new year will begin on Monday, February 6. To get myself ready, here are some goals I’d like to accomplish this year:

1. Reach my goal weight

2. Make more money

3. Volunteer monthly at a children’s hospital and/or nursing home (0/12)

4. Start grad school

5. Travel to Thailand (by 12/12)

6. Attend mass weekly (0/44)

7. Complete the couch to 5 k (again!)

8. Pay off debts

9. Write 366 posts (2/366)

10. Meditate daily

*Bonus* BE FEARLESS

A time for everything

Hey. Welcome to Girlyish…my newish blog. I’m excited to share with you the things about life that inspire me, put me on the edge of my seat, make me think outside of the box, and are just amazingly beautiful. People, it’s February 1. It’s supposed to be winter in the midwest, and yet it felt like a glorious spring day. In honor of such gorgeous weather, I thought I’d put together a mood (spring) board. Enjoy!
